SiberSafe S1000D Learning/Training Features
Create and author S1000D Learning/Training Data Modules
SiberSafe S1000D offers a collaborative authoring environment where both technical documentation and the related learning/training content can be developed in compliance with the S1000D standard.
The following S1000D Learning/Training data module types are supported:
- Learning Overview DM
- Learning Summary DM
- Learning Content DM
- Learning Assessment DM
Once created, a learning DM will automatically appear under the documentation data module it describes. The association between documentation DMs and learning DMs will be automatically established by SiberSafe S1000D based on the overlapping data module code metadata, as defined in the standard.
In additional to the normal data module code metadata, such as the SNS code, the disassembly code etc, the Learning data modules also feature the additional learning metadata, specifically the Learn Code and the Learn Event code. SiberSafe allows the user to select one of the Learn Codes from the standard-defined list that can be extended by the user. The Learn Event Code is set automatically based on the data module type.
SiberSafe S1000D supports multiple different constructs in the Learning Assessment DM, including:
- Single-choice questions
- Multiple-choice questions
- Match table questions
- Hotspot table questions
- Sequence questions
Insert cross-references to S1000D Learning/Training Data Modules
SiberSafe S1000D automates the insertion of S1000D-compliant cross-references to both documentation data modules and learning data modules. The additional learning metadata, such as the Learn Code and Learn Event Code are automatically added to the cross-reference if the reference target is a Learning data module.
SiberSafe ensures the validity of S1000D cross-references and visualizes them both ways, from the source to the target and back.
Generate an S1000D Learning Publication Module
A Learning Publication Module can be automatically generated as soon as the user specifies the target SNS node, the applicable SDC (system difference branch) and the target audience. The Learning publication module generated will follow the structure of the task analysis hierarchy under the selected target audience, will include all the training/learning modules under the selected SNS node (or any of its sub-nodes) and will only cover the specified SDC variant and its base variants.
Even though SiberSafe S1000D users do not need to manually create Learning Publication Modules, they can re-shuffle the structure of any Learning Publication Module once it is automatically generated.
In SiberSafe S1000D, a Learning Publication Module can be published into one of the following formats:
- IETM Viewer
Navigate S1000D Learning/Training Content in SiberSafe IETM Viewer
SiberSafe S1000D IETM Viewer is capable of rendering both S1000D documentation and learning/training Data Modules in the standard-compliant manner.
A training/learning course, when published in the IETM format, includes all the related training/learning modules laid out in the table of contents (TOC). It will also implicitely include all the documentation data modules that are referenced from within the training/learning ones. SiberSafe IETM Viewer allows the user to navigate cross-references from training/learning data modules to documentation data modules and then come back to continue going through the remainder of the course.
SiberSafe IETM Viewer is capable of taking the student through exercises and tests based on the learning assessment data modules included into the published course. The student will be able to answer questions of the following types and get direct feedback while doing so:
